Service: 1960s Cortebert Automatic with Dennson gold case

Gervald sent in this lovely Cortebert Automatic, equipped with a Cortebert Calibre 286 movement, which is based on ETA 2472. Gervald inherited the watch from his father in law, who was a Birmingham City Police officer and got the golden watch as a leaving present, when he was retiring in 1967.

At a first glance, we see an undamaged movement, which is -unfortunately- pretty dirty. For that reason the performance is really poor. Continue reading Service: 1960s Cortebert Automatic with Dennson gold case

Service: Omega Constellation calibre 751

This great 1970s Omega Constellation was sent in by Jim for inspection and a service.

The watch has been serviced 20 years ago, and then spent the whole time in a drawer. Now Jim decided to get it out of the drawer and to wear it again. For this reason he first wanted the watch to be inspected and serviced.

Service: Chronograph Kienzle First Flight with Dubois-Depraz module driven by an ETA 2824-2 movement

Christian from watchguy.co.uk gave me this Dubois Depraz module, driven by an ETA 2824-2 movement, for a service.
Some of you may know, that Christian actually is the hidden uk-watchmaking champion and could easily service the assambly by himself. He just had no time. So it is a great honor for me, to do the job. Thank you, Christian!

Although every thing looks good, the movement runs very slowly or stops completely. No chance to get any indication on the timegrapher.

First of all, I took dial and hands off, and seperated the module from the movement. That allows me to check, if the movement would be likley to move without the module docked on. As you might see on the picture below, the ETA 2824-2 is performing without module – but not very well. The urgent need of a service is out of the question.
